A Man After My Own Heart

"But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, 'I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do' " (Acts 13:22).

As I was reading this, I was thinking ‘"I wonder if God thinks that about me?"

As I carried on thinking and writing, I realized we are the apple of God’s eye, so why wouldn’t He think that about us.

Zechariah 2:8 says, “…for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.”

If God sees us as the apple of His eye and a man after His own heart, why do we place huge and unrealistic expectations on ourselves? Why do we think that God doesn’t love us? We are the ones who create distance between us and God, not the other way round.

Regardless of what we do, what we say, what people say about us, how we think God doesn’t love us, we can rest knowing we are forever forgiven, by God’s huge, massive, awesome love and grace (there are not words to describe His love for us, nor about the grace we live in).

If God feels that way about us, why don’t we feel that way about Him. We should be up in the morning praying to Him, worshipping the One who created us, reading the Treasure Map which God himself gave us (the Bible), and living our lives as worship to Him.

I know we fall short all the time, and I know we are only human. But Jesus walked this earth as a human. He didn’t mess up. You may be thinking, “it’s because He is the King of Kings”, and that is true, but it is OUR choice in how we walk with God, how we live our lives daily, what we say today, and what we look at.

If we really felt how God does about us, then we would do our best in every situation, in every circumstance, whether we are tempted or not, to live for Him. Jesus was tempted on more than one occasion, but He didn’t let that rule Him or beat Him.

Today, let us make the choice in our everyday living, our everyday walk with God to put Him first in everything we do. Let our everyday choices represent Christ in our lives. We want to let people know we are here to serve Christ because Christ lives within us.

Be blessed this week in all you do, and remember to be “a man after God’s own heart”.
