Are You Too Busy For God?

You might be reading this and the first thing that comes to mind is that you have a lot going on but it is all good stuff. For example, “I volunteer three times a week feeding the hungry, I usher and am on the worship team at my place of fellowship, and I help out with different missions in town. I’m not busy, but am just doing God’s work.”
Consider these thoughts: Is all this God’s will for you? How much time are you spending with God? How invested are you in your family? Are you only attending church because you feel the youth pastor or kids pastor will do a good job teaching your children, or do you realize that God has commanded parents to train their children in the knowledge of the word of God (Proverbs 22:6)?
The Bible says in Matthew 6:33-34, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for tomorrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Notice this is not a question but a command.
So where is God on your list of priorities? I heard somebody once say that the meaning of BUSY is to be Buried Under Satan’s Yoke. As Americans, we often look ahead too much and miss out on what God is speaking and doing right in front of us. We quickly bring idols into our lives like money, work, routines, ministry, etc. However, scripture commands us in Exodus 20:3-5 to have no other god besides God.
How can we tell somebody about someone we talk to five minutes a day? I can tell you a lot about my wife because I spend so much time with her. We are one. I am still learning things about her each and everyday.
We as a body of believers need to put God back in his rightful place (refer to Isaiah 6:1, Psalm 105, Genesis 1, Psalm147, and Revelations 19). This is the God that we are blessed to be bondservants to.
It’s time for us to turn and burn. To make sure you read that right I didn’t say turn OR burn. No, I mean we have to allow God to take us deeper, which requires refining. Psalm 66:10 says that “God has proved us; thou hast tried us; as silver is tried.”
It’s going to be hot, but when you are cold heat feels great. Trust in God and know that as He purifies and takes you deeper in Him, that He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will be there the whole time as He was with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. I’m pretty sure w
hen they left out of that furnace they where stronger and more courageous than when they entered. You might limp away as Jacob, but trust me you will be blessed to be a blessing.
“People want the promise, but want to abort the process… However, it’s the process that prepares us for the promise.”
