“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20
A few weeks ago I was on vacation with my family in Florida. As I opened my Facebook app that Wednesday, I saw post after post about the shooting at Harrisburg High School. A part of me wanted to cry and anther part wanted to rejoice. I cry because innocence was lost. Our children now know how close tragedy can be. They now have to live in a world where they have even less trust in the people around them. They now have to question their safety in a place where they should be safe to learn and just be.
My next thought was of rejoicing. Praise God that no one was hurt beyond repair or killed. As I started to pray for Harrisburg and our community, I couldn’t help but be encouraged. GOD HAS A PLAN. Because of this terrible tragedy, He has opened doors for us many to share the gospel. Students are questioning their beliefs and encouraging each other to be strong in their faith. I was at a meeting with students a few days later and they were speaking about their concerns of safety. God used this time to encourage them to be missionaries in their schools. They had a new urgency to share the gospel with the students they come in contact with. Praise God! I truly believe the verse above as God is moving and using this tragedy to open doors in our schools for “the saving of many lives”. I believe there is a great revival coming to our schools this year. Be encouraged.
Luke 10:2 reads, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few”. How can you get involved in this harvest? How is God calling you to be a part of changing a school or just one student for His glory? Ask Him and He will reveal His heart to you.
PRAISE:
The students at Washington High School really jumped in to help out at Collision Café.
Lincoln High School Collision has a consistent team of student leaders. Last week they broke up in groups and spent time praying for all the students who came to the outreach.
About 30 students came to Edison Middle School’s last outreach.
Praise God that Memorial Middle School leaders met Monday and talked about what they want to see God do at their school. Three parents came and were excited to get to know one another better.
Two Tea High School students are meeting this week to talk about implementing Collision at their school.
Patrick Henry Middle School students got permission to have Collision in the school. They will meet Monday mornings.
The Nepali girls soccer team is getting connected to Christine, a volunteer, and will meet again on Wednesdays.
Praise the Lord that Dakota Alliance is giving us permission to have our soccer outreach from November 1 through the end of March on Sunday evenings. He is faithful to provide resources for the ministry!
PRAYER REQUEST:
Pray that the body of Christ is united, as they are intimate with the Father. Unity is an automatic overflow of being with the Father.
“Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshipers met together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be, were they to become 'unity' conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship.” - AW Tozer
Pray for students to have a heart to live their faith before their classmates and share Christ with them.
Pray that students will have a love for lost people. Pray that they will be patient and persevere, realizing that they may be planting the seed of salvation.
Pray for more volunteers to get involved with Collision. Our faith goal is that 30 volunteers will attend training next Monday night.
