Watch Your Step

Psalm 119:105 talks about God’s Word being a lamp unto our feet. It’s encouraging to know that we can see where were going to be stepping but I think it would be fair to say that we want more than that. Curiosity gets the best of us by making us want to know where that next step is taking us. We strongly dislike going into the unknown and even just dealing with the unknown. I can honestly say this has been a struggle for me lately. I want to see the whole picture and I want to see the whole path lit up clearly. I’ve let that kind of thinking cloud my judgment on what needs to be done and in which direction I should be taking my next step. God never fails to equip me with the proper tools. A devotion I read not too long ago discussed something similar to this: because of the fact that it is the Word of God that lights our feet and lights up the next step we should have faith that God is showing us that next step for a reason. God doesn’t need to light up the whole path. To be obedient to God is not just to do His will, but to have faith that He knows best. Throughout this month I encourage you to focus on that next step that God has lit up for you. Don’t worry about the next one or where the next 100 steps will take you, but focus on simply taking that “next step.”
PRAISE: New Tech High had a great turn out for the parent night. The parents gave some great ideas as they watched their kids plan the outreach. Parents are encouraged that their kids are involved in Collision. The George McGovern student leaders are taking more responsibility. It is exciting seeing God work through them and just seeing the joy they get from being involved. We are proud of the Memorial Middle School leaders who led the outreach. They did skits on temptation and a 6th grade girl talked about temptation and the gospel. This was their second outreach and 28 kids showed up. Ben Leone, Youth Pastor at Falls Church, has been helping empower students at Harrisburg High School. He is seeing the fruit of being involved with Collision with his youth group. A Collision Student Missionary group, along with their coach, Charlie Sanders, was able to minister to a group of students hanging out at Kuehn Park. There are student leaders at Tea who are meeting and have a desire to have Collision at their school. PRAYER REQUEST: At New Tech High they will not only be discussing a deep topic of how you get to heaven, but will be trying a new technique of giving the message by splitting into small groups while each leader leads that small group. Please pray that God gives them wisdom and the right things to say no matter what responses they get from students. Pray that God would keep working in and through the students at George McGovern Middle School. They’ve come a long way. Pray that they learn to be patient with one another and that they would develop a more teachable spirit. Pray for Sioux Falls Christian Collision students as they are discussing how to be a family and connect the middle school and high school. Pray for some Whittier Middle School students who have a desire to have a prayer group and pray for the people in their school. Pray for Washington High School Collision as they are revamping what leadership, outreaches, and small groups look like. Pray that students feel welcomed and accepted, like family, from other students when they go to Collision outreaches and meetings. In Christ, Antonio Olivares and the Collision Staff
