Love, Faith... Action

Last week we took some of the students, from various schools we work with, to see the movie ‘Risen.’ It is all about the death and Resurrection of Jesus but from the perspective of someone who was not a believer or follower of Christ. It was an interesting movie to watch especially on the build up to Easter.
After the movie I was reading through some of the stories in the Bible that the movie depicted to see if the sequence of events and characters were accurately portrayed. As I was reading the Bible and reflecting on the movie I began to think about all of the people who knew Jesus, walked with him daily, saw Him do incredible miracles and still had difficulty believing the things He said and did. Even after He had risen from the dead!
Then I thought about how easy it is for us to be just like the disciples and others in the Bible. We see Jesus move, work, and do amazing things in our lives and in the lives of others around us but then something difficult arises. At this point we are so quick to doubt Him instead of remembering what He has done before and having faith to believe that He really is “working ALL THINGS together for our good” (Romans 8:28).
May I encourage you as we prepare for Easter to remember firstly, the most incredible act of love that anyone could ever do for you, Jesus being crucified on the cross and then rising again! Secondly, take time to reflect on the many miracles great and small that He has done in your life and the lives of those around you and give Him the thanks and praise that He deserves. Thirdly, be like David when he said in 1 Samuel 17:37, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” No matter what you are going through or what is happening around you let your faith grow as you remember the things He has brought you through already and have confidence that He can do it again but in an even greater way!
PRAISE:
For our new board members, Ian Nacy from Celebrate Community Church and Tajuan Jackson from Friendship Community Church.
After many months of preparation, we launched an updated website. Check out collision.org.
The guy student leaders at Tea High School have gotten close to each other and are sharpening each other in their faith. They hold each other accountable on reading the Bible, praying for each other, and putting their faith in action.
Prayer requests:
Pray for Cori Schmaus and her family. Over the weekend her water broke. She is 30 weeks along and will be in the hospital until delivery. Pray for the baby’s continued growth and health and a delayed delivery (doctors are hoping for 4-5 weeks). Pray for her husband, Chris and their 3 kids Amanuel, CJ, and Roo as they go through a new transition/routine with Cori in the hospital.
Pray for the Lincoln High School Easter Outreach after school this Friday.
Pray for the upcoming iThink Big school assembly week in late April and Celebration Gathering that Friday night.
Pray for the Annual Celebration Dinner and all the details that go into it. Pray that God is glorified and that students’ testimonies will have a big impact on those attending, even spurring on more student leaders, volunteers, and new donors.
Pray for new staff. As Collision is expanding, there is a need for more staff and more volunteers. Thank you for continuing to pray for our current volunteers and future ones.
