Taking a Stand

Lately one of the biggest and amazing things I’ve noticed is students are really taking a stand for what they believe in! No matter how small the impact may be in the beginning, in the long run it creates an unbelievable influence. For example, did you hear about the viral awakening sweeping the nation within the last two months? Students themselves are taking on the call God has given them and are publicly proclaiming their faith whether it be proclaiming the word of God in the hallways of their school or praying at the pole. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, actions like these leave lasting and powerful impressions and a light seen for miles and miles away! What’s even more cool about this is that Sioux Falls is not going untouched by this revival. Days ago, there was a student at Roosevelt High School who committed to praying at the pole every day this week (and students are joining him). Can you imagine how this could affect Roosevelt, the other schools and the city? Remember drastic change starts when someone decides to do something different then what’s always been done. The students know this and are taking huge steps of faith out of their comfort zones.

This boldness the students are putting into practice is seen in so many different testimonies. One being when they share the gospel outside of Collision events. We challenge them to ask one of two simple questions that lead into the talk of salvation. The stories they come back with are amazing. They are asking their friends, family members, and coworkers, and many of the people they ask end up giving their lives to Christ. Remember these are middle and high schoolers doing this!

This year, through some ups and downs, the students at New Tech High committed to take a new ownership of the Collision group and have really stepped up as leaders. They lead their small groups, have gained confidence, and found out that all the ideas and words they need come straight out of prayer and their team work. It’s been such a great month and I know God is preparing something big, not just for our nation, but especially for Sioux Falls!

PRAISE:

  • For students who are willing to “stand out” and “stand up” for Jesus.

  • God is using students to make a difference in our community through their prayers and boldness.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray that boldness and courage would spread throughout our students and nationwide. Pray students would be more willing to step out of their comfort zones.

  • Pray for students, like the one at Roosevelt and the one who is sharing the gospel with his family, that God would use them as a catalyst to spark something incredible.

  • Pray for our upcoming worship and testimony night that God would speak encouraging words through the students (December 16). Pray that this would empower and excite them to reach more people for Christ.

  • Pray that God would give us new businesses that would have a heart for the schools.
