What is the future of Sioux Falls going to look like twenty years from now? Who will be the next leaders in business, education, health-care, and the church? Sioux Falls is an amazing community and growing quickly. After 10 years of working with the teenagers of Sioux Falls, I have begun to see a picture of our future as a city that is bright and challenging. The teenagers here are brilliant and have so much giftedness to offer. They are ambitious and excited to set out on life’s adventures. However, there are major challenges that they are facing, due in large part to the brokenness of the family. God wants to step in and heal the brokenness through the power of His good news about Messiah Jesus. I believe that the Church in Sioux Falls has an incredible opportunity to step into the next generation’s lives and make disciples that are focused on making other disciples. It will be through discipleship that we will begin to see healing and empowerment into Christ-likeness. Christ-likeness is what will continue to give Sioux Falls leaders that are generous, loving, self-sacrificing, and prayerful. Twenty years from now I want to see the Church in Sioux Falls stronger than it is today. I want to see the health-care, business, education, and the church be thriving with incredible leaders.
I believe that this can be accomplished by seeing 2000 disciple-making movements in our city. This is a God-sized goal that only He can accomplish. Please believe with me for this goal and vision. If this happens, every student in our city would have the opportunity to not only hear the gospel, but be discipled into obeying all the commands of Christ.
I’ve attached a story of Dawson Trotman, the founder of the Navigator’s ministry. It is a powerful story of the impact of a young man’s life on America out of simple obedience to the commands of Christ. I believe that we are seeing God raising up more young men and women like Dawson, Billy Graham, Bill Bright, Amy Carmichael, and Heidi Baker right here in Sioux Falls.
May Christ richly bless you as you walk into 2017 without any fear, boldy proclaiming the love, mercy, and justice of Messiah Jesus.
Prayer and Praise:
Lord God, we are asking and believing for the Church in Sioux Falls to step into the next generation’s lives and make disciples focused on making other disciples.
We ask for an overflow of Christ-like leaders to develop that are generous, loving, self-sacrificing, and prayerful.
We praise you for the God-sized goal of 2000 disciple-making movements in our city. With you, nothing is impossible. Thank you for students responding to the gospel and being discipled into obeying all the commands of Christ.
Lord we ask for 150-200 disciple-making movements by the end of the school year.
May we walk without fear, boldly proclaiming the love, mercy, and justice of Messiah Jesus.
