The African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child”, was displayed during baptism Sunday at Sioux Falls First yesterday. I sat watching through misty-eyes as our pastor, who had already baptized many people, announced that Charlie Sanders would be baptizing the rest of the people as Collision has been instrumental in their lives. Five students publicly declared their faith and desire to be baptized.
After the service, I noticed those gathering on stage for a photo. There were youth leaders, the youth pastor, Tyler Tufte, the students, and a couple of our Collision staff. That was a great representation of the body of Christ coming together to encourage these students to respond to the gospel and the Great Commission.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-13).
PRAISE:
Praise God for transformed lives; the new life inside of them and their desire to let others know.
Prayer Requests:
Please continue to be in prayer for the Cisse family (one son died and the other son is hospitalized), and the rest of the people involved in the accident.
Sioux Falls School District Superintendent Dr. Brian Maher shared the following statement: "Our hearts go out to the families and friends of those involved in this tragedy. The loss of a young person is always difficult to comprehend. The Sioux Falls School District stands ready to support those who are grieving and encourages any parents who notice their child having difficulty with this news to seek help from the school counselor. Our schools are small communities and when tragedies such as this occur, we all feel a deep sense of loss."
We praise God for our school district and their response to helping students during this difficult time.
Pray for the school assemblies that will take place in April; for preparation for the students’ hearts and for host homes/meals for the assembly team.
